Creek Nation Ag Youth Educator Billy Haltom teaches Hanna Students about Agriculture

Creek Nation Ag Youth Educator Billy Haltom spent the afternoon with Hanna Schools future Ag enthusiast . Hanna is adding 4H classes in its grade school and all students are offered a chance to compete in 4H competitions such as archery, singing, public speaking, writing, growing watermelons( a Hanna specialty),livestock judging teams, and shooting sports. Mr. Haltom discussed these 4H opportunities and Muskogee Creek Nation's Livestock Assistance program, which helps Tribal students with animal projects such as chickens, goats, lambs, rabbits, cattle, and hogs.
Hanna's school board, community leaders, and parents are committed to help it's students interested in 4-H and agriculture. With influence from Mr. Haltom and hard work and dedication from Hanna students, plans are being made for students to compete in 4-H competitions in the spring and plans are being made to builds pens on campus to keep show animals to compete. Volunteers help and pen building materials are extremely appreciated. Hanna Schools is looking forward to getting this Coronavirus behind us and enjoy country living and McIntosh County Beauty.
